View our NON PROFIT WISH LIST to see how you can help different organizations. It changes monthly.
You may not be able to help the whole world, but you can make a difference in your own community. --Elizabeth P. Carter
See the list below of non-profits that could use more volunteers! MBParent.com believes strongly in families giving back to their community by volunteering their time and making donations. Families can make a difference in their community without it necessarily being a big time commitment or expense.
We encourage parents to set an example for their children by demonstrating different ways to give, through donating toys and clothes or by helping serve meals during the holidays. You will be teaching your children empathy and compassion. Below are ways parents and kids can give back to our community.

The Food Bank for Monterey County, a certified America's Second Harvest food bank, is the largest supplier of emergency food in Monterey County. We distributed nearly 6 million pounds of food in fiscal year 2005.
We are a non-profit private organization whose mission is "…to lead community efforts in the awareness and elimination of hunger in Monterey County." To accomplish this mission, we solicit, collect, store, and then distribute food throughout the County by several means: (1) Agency Clearinghouse, a network of approximately 80 non-profit food assistance agencies; (2) direct giving programs such as Emergency Food Assistance, Food for Children, and Senior Food Bag.

Our purpose is to lead in uniting the people and resources of Monterey County communities in effectively addressing each area's most pressing needs.
Our mission is to identify and thereby raise awareness of the most pressing needs in our communities. We conduct an annual fund raising campaign, involving hundreds of local workplaces and thousands of small businesses and residences. The funds are subsequently allocated to 38 agencies and programs throughout Monterey County. Allocations panels, composed of local volunteers, decide how to distribute funds for the greatest impact.
We encourage you to get personally involved in the United Way, United Way-affiliated agencies, and other human service efforts. Together we can make a positive impact on our communities.

Youth Service Program:
In collaboration with local and private schools, we introduce young people between 12 and 18 to service learning and the spirit of volunteerism and community pride. This program provides information about local nonprofit organizations and offers assistance for individual and group placements in volunteer activities designed to meet academic requirements, personal growth and work experience. Our Youth Services Program engages youth and their families in community activities, builds leadership and teaches the importance of volunteering.
